Loveworks is delighted to announce that they will feature at this year’s EAT Food Fest 2017 in Reigate Priory Park on 22 and 23 July 2017 as the main charity partner.
“As Reigate’s very own social needs charity, our largest service supports food poverty in the community. Last year, we supported 1297 people including 465 children with a three day supply of non perishable food, but we want to do more than just give food away at our three food banks. The aim is to help people live free from the cycle of food poverty. To this end, we hope to launch a new community café in Merstham which will offer one ‘pay as you feel’ meal per day for people living in food poverty and the festival will provide the perfect match for our bid to raise awareness.” says Jen Sanderson, Charity Officer at Loveworks.
The aim of the Loveworks stand is to get the public thinking about food waste. In the UK today, we waste in excess of 7.3 million tonnes of food waste every year. The charity want you to think cleverly about food waste – recreating and reinventing fast, nutritious and healthy meals for next to nothing.
Loveworks are looking for volunteer’s who are keen to get involved over the course of the two day event, helping the charity to man their stand which will give children an interactive learning experience with blind taste testing, an opportunity to be creative with fruit & veg and a chance to power their own fruit smoothie through pedal power. Whilst children are busy at the stand, parents will be able to find out more about our work and take away some ‘food from the heart for the heart’ love stories from the stand sponsor, Inter Terminals.
