In 2016 Team Loveworks took part in the now annual RideLondon cycle event. From urban city to rural Surrey countryside, our team took the 100 mile challenge to raise money to support some fantastic social needs projects in the East Surrey community.
The team raised an amazing £2,800 which not only was allocated to help alleviate food poverty in our community but also supported our Way2Go programme. Many thanks and huge congratulations to all of you who participated.
In the first half of 2016 our food banks supported some 668 people, including 275 children and in order for our services to remain sustainable, we really do rely on fundraising from volunteers who want to take part in these sporting challenges.
What’s more the Loveworks team would not have been able to achieve these results without the support of Reigate’s local cycling water hole, Maison Du Velo, its owners and staff, all who have been magnificent in their support for the event and the Loveworks charity as a whole.
“As only an occasional cyclist, I signed up with some trepidation. However some sensible training, along with the support of MDV, made me feel confident that I could get through it. The day itself was amazing – it ended up being far more enjoyable than I thought it would be, with buzz of cycling in a large group, on closed roads, and with the large crowds. I was pleased with my time, and even more pleased that I raised funds for such a good local cause.” Julian Ellacott, Loveworks RideLondon-Surrey 2016 team member
In 2017 we look forward to having even more riders at the event as well as getting a greater community engagement for cycling with local schools and how it can help with fitness and well being.
