Loveworks Garden Project

The Loveworks community garden project aims to grow food for the community and offers the benefits of gardening to anyone who would like to get involved.

Since the launch in May we have been lucky enough to be helped by volunteers including groups from M&S, Reigate Grammar School, YMCA Redhill and the Community Payback team.

Reigate and Banstead borough council helped by installing 6 huge raised beds which enabled us to get started and Nandos kindly bought us 2 new benches. We were grateful for donations of seedlings and from an initial crop of nettles and brambles we managed to harvest strawberries, beans, pumpkins and potatoes for the Merstham Mix café, foodbanks and the community fridge.

As the growing season has finished the regularly manned sessions are suspended until Spring 2020. Over the autumn and winter we hope to work with voluntary groups on the structure of the allotment so that we are even better prepared for the growing season next year.
