Cycling up Everest for Loveworks

On Saturday, 2 May, a team of cyclists from Maison du Velo in Reigate will be tackling a virtual cycling challenge to raise much needed funds for Loveworks. As we continue to isolate this challenge will be taking place in a virtual world, using the cycling platform Zwift to complete the challenge. 31 cyclists will nervously climb onto their turbo trainers at sunrise and attempt to rack up over 53,088 metres of elevation during the course of the day. That’s the equivalent of cycling up Mount Everest 6 times, representing one ascent for each week of lockdown on the date of the challenge, and will mean making at least 50 ascents of Alpe du Zwift, the virtual mountain climb we will be using for the epic feat.
