Sunshine and showers greeted the Loveworks Garden Launch event on the evening of the 2nd May2019 – both essential components for a successful garden.
Loveworks aim is to develop a community garden/allotment to offer the health and well being that gardening and being outside can bring to anyone who would like to get involved.
This will align with other Loveworks projects by growing food for the local food banks and community cafe which we support. The site will be a great venue for social events and the first of these will be the Volunteers’ Tea Party on 6 June 2019 – during National Volunteer Week.
The plot has been unused for a while and is rather overgrown. Preliminary work clearing it has uncovered hidden paths, old children’s gardening tools and an abandoned fox den. The council has installed 6 large raised beds for us, so we can get startted growing straight away. Strawberries, raspberries and sunflowers have already been planted and other vegetable crops are planned.
If anyone has any surplus, home-grown vegetable seedlings that they would like to donate – please contact Laura
We are looking to build a team of volunteers to help manage the Garden Project and all levels of gardening expertise are welcome. It’s just great to be outside!
The plot is on the Park Lane Extension site in Reigate, which is to the south fothe stream running alongside the main allotments near the rugby club. Look for the Loveworks banner.
Summer 2019 – the plot is usually manned every Friday morning between 10:30 and 12:30pm.
Just come along, or to find out more about the project and how to get involved, email Laura at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Loveworks Garden forms the basis of a pledge made during this Year of Green Action, which is all about connecting people with nature, and showing how we can all take positive action to improve our environment. See www.yearofgreenaction.org for more information.
