Loveworks runs three food banks each week and we need more local volunteers who are willing to give something back to their community through giving their time to help with both front of house and logistics roles.
The front of house role would be a commitment of 2 hours every three weeks, perhaps more if you want to help with cover when other teams are short.
The logistics roles are varied. We work with many corporate and community partners; including schools and churches, local supermarkets and storage facilities. We often host fundraising events and collections. Food donated by our supporters needs to be transported! The logistics team are also responsible for stock management, watching out for expiry dates so no food gets wasted.
More information about our food banks can accessed at Loveworks Food Banks, but generally we operate three times a week. Monday (6-7.45pm) and Friday (9.30-11am) in Reigate and Wednesday (4-6pm) and Saturday (2.30-4pm) in Merstham.
This vibrant and busy older people’s delivery helps those people in our community who are lonely or isolated to get out and meet friends. The event takes place once a month at various local venues and is a great opportunity for our older people to meet, chat and make friends, while making a real difference.
Are you willing to offer some of your time to listen and to become involved so that older people in our community are not isolated and have a social event to look forward to on a regular basis? If so, just contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 07912 628013.
The Loveworks Garden was launched in the Spring of 2019 at the Park Lane extension site next to Priory Park, Reigate.
The allotment site aims to grow food for the local community to be distributed via the Loveworks Foodbanks, the community fridge at The Merstham Hub and donated to the Merstham Mix cafe. We also plan to use the site for social events and corporate volunteering opportunities.
We are looking for volunteers with all levels of gardening experience throughout the growing season from May – September to help with general gardening duties such as planting out, staking, weeding, watering and harvesting.
We are planning to re-establish regular weekly sessions when social distancing regulations allows and also have some more social events on the site. It’s a lovely place to be on a Summer’s day or evening.
